How come all the other human-like animals died-out? Wouldn't evolution favor human-like animals under any context if they are so superior?

similar species => interspecific competition => erradication of less-fit species for the niche
(note: neanderthal (and maybe other humanoid species, I don't know) genes still live on due to horizontal gene transfer, so you can say they were erradicated (outcompeted) and "incorporated" by homo sapiens)
