We live in some variation on a block universe (static past and future) which has no internal mechanism to create the "arrow of time." The perceived passage of time is because there's some mechanism like a meta-computer that's "playing" our universe like a computer would a CD. This would also mean that the conscious experience is not local to the universe, but generated on the meta-computer and informed by the 4D structure of a given brain. Lastly, although static in a given instance, the universe may function analogous to a read-write CD, but with the effect of any changes propagating through the causal web and updating the course of events.
I feel like this explanation could resolve a lot of things that seem funky about how physical reality and consciousness appear to work. Thoughts?
