Ok, fuck, i get that the body is complex and nerves are small, but how are we doing on this?
I get that artificial limbs are hard because servos are shit and its too complex to imitate the mechanical properties of the body, much less with its self repairing capabilities, but im just so fucking awed at the fact that we are not experimenting (enough) on nerve endings.
I mean fuck, when you got something cut off youre never feeling it again, thats fucked up we should do something.
what are nerves ? little cables, they send electricity. Yeah yeah i know theres a lot of them and theyre small, but we do complex electronics with small cables all the time, we also do analysis of complex systems all the time.
start fucking jabbing cables on people and try random shit to experiment. Get them to be voluntary, try to have like some sort of morphine flood button to make it more humane, like if you try random stuff youre bound to hit unimaginable pain levels but its not so bad if done on badass volunteers and it only last for a small fraction of a second.
and after that we would get an increidble leap in biotechnology which would have countless benefits. Even with current level prosthetics they would be incredibly better if we knew how to make them feel. but we could also make literal soma style drugs with no side effects, just stimulation that doesnt fuck you pu when you stop receiving it, plus precise study of moods and tiredness for incredible increases in work performance plus other benefits
and for gods sake, i could have put a girl as the pic but i didnt i think i deserve credit for htat
