Post about aquatic plants itt.

What is the trick to grow aquatic plants without fishes? Just use diluted pee but let the container "cycle" before adding the plants? When I tried using watered down piss my duckweed didn't grow much, but now that I have a running fishtank they can cover the entire surface of the water within a few days.

I'm also going to get wolffia globosa and limnobium laevigatum. Surface water plants are so fucking cool. They can:

- remove phosphates from water contaminated with phosphates
- remove heavy metals
- be used as fish food, although the fishes won't grow much if you're not adding extra phosphates. On the other hand duckweeds should be a good for fattening fishes like tilapia to make them more energy-dense
