anon, there are working monitors in this day and age
you don't have to get an oscilloscope for the "retro feel"
you'll look pretentious and silly, and it just makes your vidya experience less enjoyable

I don't know, I have an analog scope and I love it. There's just something hypnotizing about the CRT beam. It's certainly not practical in this day and age, but it's still more than adequate for analog projects. It's in my personal shop where no one will ever see it, so it's not like it's hurting anything.

Yeah I wasn't planning retro.
Still could use a quick rundown to modern PC software USB versions. What features am I looking for? Are they just DAQs?

I like my sds1202X-E. Anyone know of any good universal programmers? I got a really good 24$ dollars one on Amazon, but i noticed it won't support my GAL/PAL FPGA's, and the FPGA programmers that xilinx and lattice sell are actual highway robbery.

most modern oscilloscopes operate in the order of gigasamples per second. you could make something with an arduino or whatever, but it would mostly be a learning aid, or toy

tektronix, I just bought whatever was cheap at the time which I think was 2232
