I’ve seen an old woman dig a a fucking 3 foot long femur our the side of a hill. Find all sorts of small things like triceratops teeth, fossilized turtle shell, and Gar scales all in the ground below the K-Pg layer. Every now and then you’ll find something really neat like a therapod tooth, identifiable chuck of skull or something like that. There’s an absolute shit load of unidentifiable fossilized bone fragments in some areas.
They’re fucking rocks, buried underground, often times set in a matrix of other hard rock, that resemble large bones. They’re dinosaurs, anon.
Plaster casts in museums are only used on really high quality specimens, there’s tons of museums where you can see real fossils. The Black Hills Institute has some nice ones, one of the nearby school of mines does too.
