Perhaps women need to understand, modulate, and manipulate. Which is why they're drawn to biology and psychology.

Several of the researchers studying low intensity RF effects in the USSR were women. MS Tolgskaya and ZV Gordon in particular. I found that interesting.

Newer field that has not many senior scientists who can remain relevant past the 10 year mark so it's easier to break into. The overlap with the medical fields resulted in would be nurses discovering a joy of science and switching over.

also its a nice soft science, befitting for females, nothing too hardcore
also you get to work with humans animals and plants, females with a harmonic mind and less proclivity for abstract thinking are naturally attracted by this

Some biological questions involve how many babies a frog produces per breeding cycle, or, how many carrots can a family of rabbits eat per year.

But then there are other biological questions, and women aren't interested in such questions. Because remember, ladies and cool dudes, nature is metal.
