How well does sigmund theories hold up? As far as I know how he structured the mind as the id, ego, super-ego, conscious and subconscious. It all seems like it scientifically sound while still being discarded by john watson. What of freud's theories are out-dated/debunked, how well does he hold up?

From a scientific standpoint, all of it. Freud is only relevant to psychology because he came up with the idea of the unconscious mind and the idea that talking can treat mental illness. He is more relevant to the humanities because a) a lot of writers, filmmakers, and artists of the 20th century were fans of his ideas and incorporated them into their works and b) his ideas are still good symbolic representation of human behavior and relationships (i.e. penis envy isn't about wanting a dick because your father had one, but about the resentment women feel towards powerful men in society).

Lots of reasons. The main one being that most people can't distinguish science from pseudoscience. And, let's face it, lots of people are fascinated by the "theories" in it. The "mind over body" stuff seems to be pretty popular for example. Another reason is that there is a subset of psychiatrists which can be called "predatory", who essentially pray on mentally fragile people. Also remember that even medicine was, essentially, a pseudoscience before the 20th century. Eventually psychiatry will grow out of this pseudoscientific/prescientific phase, that is, if we survive as a species before we reach such a goal.

I'm no psychology or Freud buff but my understanding is this abhorrent behavior is actually primal in nature as in who the fuck knows what we did as early cavemen. It can be argued that society and it's norms and taboos discouraged and curbed such animalistic behaviors. It's just Freud pointing out what COULD be inherent in some people. However we really tend to see this shit in psychopaths which some think are so fucked up because they're so devolved than the normal person.

Marx was influential because of well argued points about the state of society and the solution he proposed. That solution, at it's core, is one of the most beautiful ideas people have ever had in terms of organising society. What Marx didn't know was that it would all come apart due to human nature. Even so, while the idea of communism has been rejected for good reason in the modern world, our society is still largely organized according to Marxist principle which is why aren't being worked like a horse in the fields, regrettably
