Flu is much less contagious than covid-19 and has a much easier to detect infection window. Wide spread mask usage and social distancing is much more effective on flu then on covid-19

The image you posted answers your own question. It's not 22000 deaths dropping to 1. That image shows *pediatric* case deaths which are already very low to start with. I'm also sure the table-2 is only show a weekly period statistic not for the whole year. Top right graph makes that clear. Certain weeks only show 0 or 1 paediatric deaths.

They've thrown money at the trials to accelerate the process but yes the regulatory checks / red tape have been reduced or skipped over but to be fair some of that was being done during the trials which is not usual but it has saved on time.

The number of influenza infections is below average, as would be expected given the host of non-pharmaceutical interventions taking place across the world.
