None of what you suggest is possible for the typical undergrad enrolled in a sophomore organic lab course at, say, UIUC or Cal. Those students simply don't have previous day acess to materials and apparatus.
If OP has joined a lab (has a research appointment/independent study) then these things are possible. That said, these students would be given 1-on-1 instruction by a grad student or post-doc, and wouldn't need to ask fucking 4chan.
