How do I distills oil of nutmeg? For allylbenzenes. My guess is to 100g nutmeg you add 250 ml water and distill at 250 celsius. Do you add like more water half way through or what?

My experience with distillation has convinced me that 250 degrees does not exist in the presence of liquid water so I don't know what the water is for.

like only now do I even understand what temperature means

if you use pressure you can get much higher boiling points. If anon is asking this simple of a question I highly doubt they have the equipment though.

Cool. No I don't know how to add pressure to a system. I can just remove pressure. What do we do when a steam distillation goes dry? Or do I use some other solvent?
