Listen carefully: Space and time are intimately linked in a continuum known as "spacetime", yes.

However, for every discrete spacial dimension, there is a corresponding time dimension that "smears" it. For example: A time dimension smears a zero-dimensional point into a string. Just as a time dimension smears a one-dimensional string into a brane. And so on, thusly; time goes to smear a brane into a volume, such as our own "holographic" three-dimensional spacetime continuum.

A higher time-like dimension is simply our three-dimensional universe encoded onto a sub-dimensional bulk. Should you "fold" this bulk, as gravity does, you can make space more time-like, and time more space-like. Imagine our three-dimensional spacetime as a cube traveling the path along a sub-dimensional bulk. As that path is bent—think of a parabolic trajectory—space becomes more time-like. If that path folds onto itself—think of a "ribbon" or clothoid loop—then space and time ostensibly change roles, and you travel through time like you do through space. You now have access to any point in time—both future, and past—that you may access as easily as walking from one room to another.

You're welcome.
