>Be me, EE/math student
>Final year of math undergrad
>Take a class called "multivariate data analysis"
>It's a hard as nails class where we construct the mathematical foundation of major algorithms like PCA, K-clusters, etc and then use them to do some descriptive analysis on some really large datasets
>Have psychologist sister
>She literally has 0 math knowledge
>She suddenly decides that she wants to get into "data science"
>Tell her to start learning calculus, linear algebra, algorithms and data structures, send her a copy of the book we used for our data analysis course along with texts in the aforementioned subjects
>"Wtf anon all that is needlessly hard and theoretical and it's not at all what were learning on our coursera course into data science 101, yesterday we learned about for loops in python and today were gonna start with databases"
Wtf my data analysis prof has a phd in the area and he's a fucking monster what is this bullshit, is data science the same as data analysis?
