Salt is 100% an addiction. Eyropeans fought wars over it, Asian Indians rebelled over it. Siberians didn't use it. (Despite its abundance there) Australians didn't use it. American Indians were split over it. Anybody not growing up not only felt no desire for eating salt, but found it disgusting and actively avoided it. But they all developed the same cravings once they were slowly accustomized to it.
