I don't think we need to "do away" with it, just that other groups out to explore, observe, and express in their own personally cultivated arenas to see what they can discover.

Much of the wisdom from ancient India would be scoffed at today if people were to discover it now

So when the price of space travel comes down to a much more affordable level, why wouldn't you take the risk of riding a rocket just to say you got only as far as low earth orbit? Because why the fuck not? It's a place you have never been. Now imagine when traveling to other bodies in the solar system and then galaxy become possible. What are you clinging to here on earth that would keep you from outer space and visiting new worlds? (This is why the Luddites and Uncle Ted fail in the long run. People don't like staying still. They want new experiences/adventures.)
