Why do so many meme fields like physics, astrophysics, quantum physics and astronomy call themselves science when they rarely ever involve any empirical science?

Right looks a lot like today except for the peer review but even that is flawed since many flawed papers have been published and were peer reviewed. There's so many scandals involving peer review
