He has literally almost every important AI scientist interviewed.
Vapnik, Bengio, LeCun, Sutskever, Goodfellow
And then he has wizards like Kernighan and Stroustrup, or philosophers like Chomsky, businessmen like Musk, etc
Pretty ashtonoshing that he managed to interview all these people. That podcast will have a huge historical value in a few years.

His guests are S-tier and that’s all that matters. Lex doesn’t need to ask good questions, he just needs to get the ball rolling and let the guests shine. One of the best podcasts around. This forum is fully of jealousy.

I like his podasts btw, he's not a genius, but he need not be one to have great conversations with the exceptional guests he brings in. Recently, we've started listening to him while running together with my gf, its a comfy experience.

I listened to a lot of episodes and regret listening to most. Only worthwhile guests have been Jim Keller and George Hotz.

The podcast Hermitix is not scientific and kind of gay too but a much better podcast.

Yes, he has good guest, but he is mathematically and philosophically illiterate. Every question he asks is either is some entry level shut like 'is mathematics discovered or invented' or some shit like 'is strong ai possible' etc. and the position he himself takes on these topic is usually pretty superficial. I don't know shit about engineering, but I'm honestly surprised he can work on self-driving cars.

Yeah I kind of agree with this. He doesn't ask extremely deep questions. He's not super articulate and, because he writes his questions down beforehand and literally reads his question off the page, does not come off as completely engaged with his guests.

He's not that bad when he's on someone who's on the same level as him. He was good with George Hotz for instance. George was fucking laughing like a little girl (it was creepy) at one point and was clearly very comfortable.

I actually think that such questions allow the guests to flourish. Sure they are nauseatingly overused and cringe, but they are so open-ended that each guest will have a differing interpretation and perspective, and from their response some gems can be drawn. Lex exceeds at seeing these gems, and although he might be too stupid to understand them, he'll get the guest to elaborate, and an interesting dialogue or monologue will ensue.
