Why do people gamble?
During my final exams, i would sometimes go to my local gambling hall and gamble because it would relise a lot of stress.
i always knew that mathmatically you lose money, but i had no problem paying that extra because the stress relief made it worth for me.
Shortly after my final exams i would never gamble again (expect one time where i was really fucking drunk and the only toilet was in a betting center) and completly lost interest in it.
What i never understood was, that there were people who would do this for years. Like you always know the bank has a mathematical advantage so you don't do this on a regular basis, because eventually no matter how much you win, you will lose it again the next week or so. There were people who would gamble away 1000€ in a single day
what makes a person become so completly irrational to gamble away their entire existance?
