I was genuinely curious so I started thinking. And I realized it all comes down to the Nigerian coughsyrup epidemic as an example out of many.
Society wants you to watch porn instead of drinking cough syrup basically, or be part of a movement to change the system.

The porn industry is probably experiencing the best time ever in history to market themselves. 30% of all males do not even have sex regularly which means that mostly their sexual urges are channeled into porn and masturbation. I do not follow the NoFap movement but it seems that the goal is to redirect your male-sexual energy into something productive. This basically means that the porn industry loses money.
