I have this theory but I'm also scientifically illiterate so I want to make sure I'm not just being stupid.
I was looking into Navajo folklore and there's this thing they describe called the tsenahale, which a giant vulture that was created by a woman masturbating with feathers.
I then found out about teratorns which were a genus of large vultures, that went extinct about 10,000 years go. Some species of which, did live in North America apparently.
I've seen a range of answers about when people first arrived in North America but they all ranged from 15,000 - 30,000 years ago.
So I have this idea that tsenahale was based on an actual type of bird encountered by really early ancestors of the Navajo that was passed down and embellished over time.

How plausible is this?
