personally, when i watch the shining, i see someone apologizing for a "side" of them.
one who partook in a great con with the elite

jack is an aspect of stanley (among many other allegories. he represents a state of mind really), and things stanley went through. obviously jack is the cinematized, hyperbolic version.

in the end, jack is immortalized within the hotel (the hotel is an allegory for america), among the elite, forever stamped in history
in the end he's holding a message. i think it's his confession.

stanley and his cowriter took it way off script
in the book, king is much more sympathetic of jacks plight
in the movie, stanley goes at jack with all guns as a cancer

jack is also allegorical of colonialism, the holocaust, the genocide of the indigenous, and more

i'm assuming jack was quite near to king, perhaps as a reflection of self, but he was more forgiving and critical of the environment, where as stanley was all guns on jack, as well as some criticism of the environment (the hotel) itself

I think it would completely erode the trust in anything the US government ever says. They're already seen as very untrustworthy, but that's a local minimum. After this they might not recover for a century.

this is my own interpretation after spending many, many hours watching his films
he was always talking about authority and secret societies

the scenes where jacks in the ball room with all the aristocrats?
there's commentary on the elite swindling the american people off the gold standard for the federal reserve
on set, that room was silver, and stanley made them change all the panels to gold.

foreground light makes background light more difficult to see
some lenses don't pick up light that well
it would be good to know what kind of lenses they had, then i could give a better representation

but in a place that is so absent light pollution, you'd think that the pictures would have had an extremely brilliant display of light
if you go out to dark places on earth you can see some pretty remarkable stuff

The moon landing was real, but the film was fake. Kubrick filmed it and then they put the landing audio over it the next day.
