What's the use of recursive functions?

Except that they're cool af, they seem, in most cases, way longer to compute than explicit functions, so i don't see what's their use, except the few cases where they're quicker to compute, maybe if you don't know an explicit formula like the Fibonacci sequence, then you can use recursion.
