The only thing more virulent than humanity itself is their accumulation of knowledge. Information is stored everywhere. Deep underground, in the arctic, and yes even in space. It's everywhere. Humans could decimate themselves twice over and still be back to destroying their planet in less obvious ways within a couple hundred years.
