/sci/ needs to look into the connection between Robert Maxwell (Ghislaine Maxwell’s father) and the peer review system. It’s fucked up.

But why scientist choose not to bear the fruits of their labour is beyond me. Like, how has no one started a journal that pays scientist when they get a citation or their paper gets bought? We would actually be rewarding our most productive scientists appropriately and probably increase the availability of funding for research which would lead to an increase in the rate of innovation. It would also act as an incentive for more people to get into STEM as well while promoting productivity. Honestly, the positive externalities from something like this would be insane. It would benefit society so much but academics are the biggest pussys. Even if you don’t care about money (the single most retarded cope) then you should at least care about advancing scientific development which would undoubtedly increase when you reallocate resources away from these rent-seeking journal’s that are just black holes for the insane profit margins that they see and into the pockets of universities and researchers. Why choose to be literal slaves?
