What they found is actually just that the level of complexity at the boundary between galactic filaments and the surrounding void is (strikingly) similar to the level of complexity found in the brain. It could just be that certain complex patterns repeat at all scales within the universe. Yes, you can't rule it out really, but they also didn't prove anything like what you are saying.
