But I'll preface my following point by saying I have too much empathy. It's a weakness of me. It's difficult for me to say "no" and I often go too far in worrying for the comfort of others.
Anyways, I symphatize with the dentist that genuinely wanted to just do a good job and took all teachings at face value because he simply did not know to doubt them. Personally, without excessive web browsing, I certainly wouldn't have learned many truths of the world, like about fluoride. I just can't help but think how difficult and painful it would be to admit to a population of millions that you and your colleagues pretty much just poisoned the entire child population for decades.
That said, I do understand integrity and honesty are far more important than feelings, so I do judge the actions of dentists negatively.
