the theory of evolution indicates that if a mutation is harmful, it will be selected against. if a mutation is helpful, it will be selected for.
It turns out the mutation which caused goats to faint wasn't selected against or selected for, because it didnt confer any advantage or disadvantage.
Because it wasnt selected for or against, by chance it became part of the genetic equilibrium.
If the mutation caused the goats to die, then it would have been selected against. But it doesn't seem to cause them to die, it causes them to temporarily become incapacitated
