I always thought that scene had an unintentional joke to it because wire is a circuit element.

you can classify photons as whatever you want, there is pretty much no ambiguity as to what they are or how they should behave and I'm not sure why people think this needs to be a rule that everything is messy and undecidable. this probably stems from idiots in chem and bio thinking the indeterminacy of their theory extends to physics as well and from laymen that really don't know anything about science to begin with.
