One time I took a short-cut through the business building because I was running late and it was like I had stepped into a scene from some kind of college movie.
It was just entire crowds of gregarious, happy 9/10 Chads and Stacys chatting everywhere.

I just want a normal girl which I have genuine chemistry with and which also has romantic interest in me. Why is that so hard? Being a kissless virgin after 20 is the single biggest turn-off for women it seems.

You either work really hard in the same lab every day in grad school, or you're in a job somewhere going to work with the same small group of people who you absolutely should not fuck every day. Majority of my relationships were from cold approaches, and every time I tried online dating, I just had to date dramatically down every time.

The truth is that pretty much everything _kind of works_. The reason greaseballs like >>12369290 is talking about score above their "value" is not that they have a job (which most adults out of college do), it's just that they don't give a shit about shit. They get rejected hundreds of times and they're too oblivious/dumb to care and eventually they get lucky, and you only need to win once.
The core of dating is the ability to spam yourself, not hiding from trying because it makes you uncomfortable and not giving up and turning into an /r9k/ blackpiller because a girl wasn't interested in you. Everything else is just tweaking the odds a bit.

Getting a girlfriend seems to be all about luck but there are at least a lot of steps someone can take to increase his odds. Statistically, most people still meet through friends though, so expanding your social circle in lots of different directions could definitely help. Combine this with cold-approaching and everyone should be fine.
Not that I would now, of course, just hypothesizing.

I met my gf in EE through friends. I was in physics and CS. Making genuine connections in college isn’t common until you’re almost done being an underclassmen, so savor it when it happens - you can make lifelong friends. I’ve been with her for ~4 years now.
Looking back at it now, while I loved my professors and academics, I cherish the time I spent goofing off with my honors friends in the physics study lounge and the time I spent playing board games and doing dumb shit with my engineering friends the most. They comprise some of my happiest recent memories.
