While this probably leaves out some details, in general if you're a Mormon woman, you can only get into the "Celestial Kingdom" if your husband takes you there. He must enter the Celestial Kingdom first and then call his wife by name (temple name?) or she cannot enter. Women have a strong incentive to pair bond with a man and marry him. Young women are taught not to wait too long for marriage as all the best men get snapped up quickly. Plus if you die before you get married, there will be no husband eventually joining you in the afterlife to invite you into the Celestial Kingdom.
If you are ever in Salt Lake City, you'll notice that the malls have an unusual number of bridal shops. The 80/20 rule does not exist there, at least not very much.
