If it were written 6/2*(1+2) or 6/2×(1+2) it would be 9. Source: my ass

It's 6÷2(3) not 6÷2×3, there's a difference. One of them has 2 terms and the other has three terms. If you look at the original problem, it has 2 terms, therefore we should use 6÷2(3), which is 1.
