Hi /sci/,
I was in the Manuel Antonio beach in Costa Rica, which as at the south portion of Costa Rica. We saw what appeared to be a small unicellular organism crawling across the beach. It was likely a ciliate, but could have been an amoeba. We weren't sure if it was extending it's cell or pushing itself with cilia.
It was quite large, maybe 1-2 cm in length when extending to move and generally oval or circular shaped. I noticed it while standing. The organelles were so large that I could see them when I got closer to it. It looked similar to Paramecium caudatum, but I don't believe it was it because it was much larger (pic related). It appeared more oval though and slightly green.
A large wave came by and then it was gone from sight so I couldn't get a picture. Any idea what this is?
