>>12365180>>12365200He literally just told you. Your eyes are like a camera, without the HDD or the memory card. Your brain is like that HDD or memory card, and the software, and the CPU, basically all of the things that actually processes that information.
Your eyes just see light, they have no concept of shape or size or color in of themselves. They're literally just signal transmitters for raw information, period. That information then gets transferred to your brain, and your brain interprets it by using all of your previous experience, knowledge and memories. So your eyes transmit an image into your brain, your brain parses that image for relevant data, and recognizes the image contains an apple. That image among many others, is stored into your brain. And this happens all the time, every second of every day of your life.
So when you then imagine an apple, your brain just fetches all of your previous memories of apples, and creates an approximation of an image of an apple. You can turn that apple, colour it, change its size, imagine its texture, taste, how it would look like dissected, or ground to a pulp, or a juice, etc. All this is done by your brain.
It's the same as your sense of touch, smell, hearing, balance, the feeling of your muscles... all of it is just external input, processed by your brain. Which is why you can imagine all of it. Why for example smelling a particular soap, or material from an old house, can invoke a detailed childhood memory as your brain matches that smell with a previous experience, and fetches all the others experiences connected to that particular sensation at the same time.
