I developed a great interest in reading economic statistics from around the world. Statistics that show labor, investment, consumption, profits, capital base, taxes, government spending, across multiple sectors. It gives you a better understanding than "GDP number", but im a bit confused about the terminology such as "base prices" "excluding tax" and the role of the government. This is very useful for understanding why some countries are rich or poor or why some businesses have more profit potential or all the links and second order effects you can expect from changes in one sector. I want to know if these statistics are standardized and where to read about such standards.
