If you are willing to learn a new skill maybe see if you can predict the lay out and composition of deposits by using core samples from closer to the surface.
(like get sample data from just 90 ft in a few locations around the proposed site and then later once the pit mine is dug out to train the AI and then use it to predict future deeper sample results) Train the AI on recorded old mine samples.
