Hello friends, /lit/izen here. I am here with a request for help from you, true philosophers of nature: in order to achieve the life-long desired status of Renaissance man, it is my intention to return to the study of hard sciences after ten years of deep philosophical studies. As some of you may know, on the literature board we are used to say one should always start with the Greeks, but I doubt that is true outside of the sphere of the humanities. However, given my increasing feeling that knowledge of science, and in particular math and physics is, factually nowadays, the equivalent of knowledge of latin in the middle ages, and since I throughly believe humans were not created to live like brutes, to say it with Dante, but to follow virtue and knowledge, I now seek the advice of people I deem wiser than me, for there is nothing strange in wanting to learn what one does not know. So, were could I start, having in mind something like maths and physics? How can I alphabetize myself in these subjects? What are the best books, and most effective techniques? If you could provide such advice, and possibly a reading list, I would be most grateful to you. Please, help a fellow seeker of episteme.
