I had worked with male supervisor in academia, he was rough but if he crossed the line then I would make it known to him that this is not correct and I am not willing to stand it to which he would backoff and apologize admit that he will keep those things in mind for future. We got very productive research done cause we were direct while still being respectful, well most of the time.
I am under female supervisor now with most females and I can already see the passive aggressiveness and mind games that being played which confuses your mind if there is an actual issue or am I thinking into too much.
