I hate memorizing things and am super bad at it. I bet I'll drop out of med school once I can't take it anymore and will become a neet leeching off my parents until I kms.

Looks like you're not fit for medicine studies. Memory is everything in those exams, and they are huge.
Imagine a doctor who doesn't remember things lmao. If you ever noticed, doctors remember info on the spot almost always.

If you're smart go into engy, where memory is not the #1 thing. Maybe med physics or bio eng or something

I'm OP, I was good at memorising stuff but due to COVID this year I barely got to see the prosections at all. Hell, the pictures were so two-dimensional and imprecise that at times it was hard to tell if it was an ARM or LEG I was looking at.

Here's hoping they make the cut-off for passing lower since the exam went so shitty, for most people anyway from what I hear.

I still wanted to do well though, had high expectations for myself but I guess med school is brutal, this was my first exam.

Don't know about your country, but med people here need GPAs close to 100% to choose interesting specializations after the first few years. If it's the same there, you better start putting max effort into memorization skills, you have to become a literal memory machine. Otherwise you still have time to change major.

Does first year matter a lot? Do you need amazing grades from the get-go?

I'm aiming for ortho/urology or another surgical specialty so I am aiming high, yeah
