Also, you can't ignore the culture in which they grow. Imagine getting bullied by your teen thug peers when you're black and are trying to just be a decent human being.
I bet a lot could have been nice functional citizens, but they followed their environment and became thugs.

This is true. Degeneracy is not race specific. Its just how hard you have to work to make different races degenerate. Its probably easier to make degenerate blacks than degenerate whites, as a whole. But you can cirtainly make degenerate whites (West Virgina/ opioid epidemic anyone?)

It's the exact opposite. If you're a merely competent black taking advantage of free taxpayer funded public education K-12, you may then

1. find it easier to get admitted into good schools
2. have more grants and scholarships available to you
3. have a variety of minority-based support groups push you along on campus
4. have most major companies more willing to hire you over your white peers to fulfill diversity quotas

And what's sad is that this baby gloves treatment from cradle to grave is still not enough to put much of a dent in their socioeconomic standing as a group
