The school is paying each of them half a salary since they both working in the same position. They also had to join the teachers retirement system, which means somewhere in Minnesota there is a software developer cursing about having to change the way their system works to accommodate this one special case as they each get their own retirement account but are both drawing their salaries from the same job position.
