>>12344762>Apply, look at the requirements,i've applied, most of them are asking for a phd or experience with relevant technologies (which are domain specific)
i really don't have a plan besides whore out contributions to open source libraries
>>12344783i meant that i am a java dev with 9-12 months experience. in entry level it's pretty hard to pick what you get experience in
>>12344790wouldn't i be set aside into doing nothing of worth but be a publicity diversity figure? if i were going to be a meaningless token i could do this for more money in big tech
>>12345113>Either you would be supporting the operations of the group responsible for the computing resources, think kind of like an IT role. is this the "support engineer" role that i've seen in many listings? i've also seen "MPI developer" and "computational scientist" listed separately. they're asking for masters for even the support roles
my current job involves a lot of ops work. i dislike it and i want to believe if my work was more meaningful than making the world's richest man richer i would be more passionate about it, but honestly i can't convince myself of that.
i'm being picky but i want to get closer to research if possible. i want to get exposure to a research field that isn't operations without having to go balls deep into grad school
also a stupid question but is a dedicated computational scientist a meme role? like when people say "people who design algorithms" are those dedicated phd csfags or are those researchers from their fields?
>>12345120>dedicated to the commercialization of researchprivate or public?
