It doesnt matter what form the sugar you consume is (for the most part), the problem is this.
Your body uses insulin to take the sugar in your blood and put it into the cells, where the cells burn it for energy. Your body stores excess sugar as fat, which it puts in fat cells, also using insulin. Insulin has a dual purpose - it lets you use sugar and store sugar (as fat).
When you have a lot of sugar, you make a lot of insulin in response to this, which means you also make a lot of fat..
A single slice of bread has as much carbs (sugar) as half a candy bar. Thinking sugar is just sugary sweets is wrong, those are only worse for you in that they might damage your teeth.
The thing is, as well, many of that stuff you mentioned, in addition to being naturally high in carbs as it contains bread, also has a lot of added sugar. The pizza sauce, the condiments on the hotdogs and hamburgers, thats sugar too.
The crimes of sugar, and the sugar lobby, are increased with the bad science behind the low fat fads. Its not that eating low fat is necessarily bad for you (though you need some fat), its that low fat 'health food' often has a lot of sugar in it to compensate, and people gourge on it thinking its fine.
In the end you should just eat what you really enjoy eating, and stop yourself from eating careless excess in between. This becomes easier when you arent lead astray and convinced to eat things you dont really enjoy because of some health memes.
