Who all here actually works in the scientific field you expected to/studied for? I fantasized about doing cutting edge Human transgenic research and development in an academic setting but found out I really didn't enjoy academic research, I like coming into work each day knowing basically what I'm doing. Still ended up getting my BSc in Biochem.
So I ended up being a lab tech doing environmental wet chem, then ran a small microbiology lab doing routine coliform testing, before being an ICP analyst for awhile and finally some how bounced to nuclear chemistry which I find infinitely more satisfying than bio. I sometimes wonder if that's normal if I'm being a ping pong ball.
Anyhow, wondered how many of you do what you set out to do? Do you find your work satisfying and what you'd hope it'd be?
