Good coffee generally still tastes pretty good even many hours later when it's been lukewarm and sitting, as long as it's in a totally closed container (else stuff from the environment, like dust and whatever else is in the air and maybe bacteria, can get in and affect the taste).
Shit coffee often has its shit taste disguised with strong hotness or coldness/ice, where the temperature overpowers all the other sensations, and it goes down quickly so you don't really notice the bad taste unless it approaches room temperature.
