In regards to productivity, isn’t the idea of discipline a total scam?
"Fuck motivation, just be disciplined" they say. I don’t believe in discipline, I believe in morale. If you have the discipline to do one thing, that’s because you have the fucking desire to do it !

According to the snake-oil-salesmen, I can be in the middle of my HBO’s Rome binge for hours and then all of the sudden, with some discipline, just say fucking it to the greatest show ever made and start reading my boring Organic Chemistry textbook. We all know that’s physically IMPOSSIBLE.

Generation of men daydream about a distant achievement, force themselves to do things they do not want or even need because they were told all they require for success is discipline. They ignore the fact that the successful people had the fucking burning desire to put in the hard work. While you are being miserable studying your calculus, the genius is having the best time of his life doing his calculus, for him this isn’t even “work” its fun.

Doesn’t this unhealthy promotion of discipline set the bar too high? What’s the /sci/ behind discipline?
