In a hypothetical situation, someone tried to produce racemic amphetamine in a clandestine lab. The result was a chemical that feels much different than normal amphetamine: feels active after 8+ hours, one feels completely empty in the head, experiences quite a bit of muscle pain, etc.

What would /sci/ guess the result was? As in, what easy mistakes could an idiot do that would result in such a weirdly functioning chemical, and what would that chemical most likely be named?
