I'm currently a senior in applied and computational mathematics at my uni. I would suggest it to anyone looking to take math into any field really, its models and applications you will find in any related science or analytical field.
That being said, at least at my university, you get thrown tons of different mathematical models in a short period of time when you hit the upper division courses. It can be a lot to take in, but I think it's very worth it in the long run. I picked this major specifically because there are so many avenues to take with it.
If you want more financial analysis, maybe consider math as a major and statistics as a minor? You don't take much statistics when doing applied math as discrete methods don't apply as much in the area. I know financial statistics is a class you can take to fill an elective credit in the major itself, not just the degree.
