>>12317125Nah these are all good questions. We've been discussing it here the past few months anyways. I should start by saying that because Biden has been completely silent on his space policies no one knows for sure (not even NASA). But between wild conspiracies and smart conjectures here is what I have come up with:
>what happens with the current US space program?Unknown at this time. Biden might very well keep Bridenstine because a lot of people on the left really like him. He might equally kick him out and select some climate science goon
>Does it get de-funded?>Does Elon keep getting government contracts? Is he self-sufficient enough to do it without US support?Hmmm. Considering SLS was started under the Obama-Biden administration (not to mention the fact that SLS is almost finished despite the memes and they have already started building gateway) I would wager that Artemis will probably still happen. Albeit a long time from now. Elon will most likely keep his contracts
>Is he self-sufficient enough to do it without US support? In the early days of SpaceX Elon was completely reliant on gooberment money. To the point where he has sued a couple of times to get contracts that were unfairly given to others. He is a billionaire but throwing all of his personal money in his company in the early days was not his style. But now between his tesla shares and starlink he is likely about to become the richest man in the world. Starlink was literally designed to generate a fuck ton of revenue to self-fund spacex for the future so yes Elon is now self-sufficient enough to survive even if NASA cut off every contract for the rest of time.
>This was one of the main factors for me when thinking about who I wanted to win.Obviously Trump was better for manned spaceflight in the short term, i.e. Artemis because it was stroking trump's ego. But we might still see cool things under Biden. Maybe. Maybe not. Both parties are gay in their own right.
