There's analytic vs synthetic learning and, by science, informs us that synthetic is better at first. The issue with this is it certainly gives a road map for going in a situation green but it doesn't inform the analytic processes a child makes and just kicks them out of the nest, multiple times depending on subject, so to speak.
A more proper analytic development is starting w an explanation of what something "is" then building off that. We can see in this a philosophical historicism informing a mathematical historicism in a primordial sense.

Sure in understanding how a child understands truth or reality, we can analytically guide them into math.
An example of this is in how societies choose their base number system in math and that informs them of their ability to develop in math (like the Sumerians using a base 60 in regards to astronomical cycles of earth instead of base 2 like primitive cultures). In this Sumerians developed fractions and thus the ability to smelt metals. There base 60 system was informed by how they determined numbers as a derivative of other metaphysical developments that led them to farming.

thats not necessarily where the greatest benefit is. most student won't go on to make use of a valuable education. why maximize the education of future bus drivers and waitresses?
