Not familiar with that product but two guesses:
1) there's no hose to the outside for it to dump heat, so it dissipates in into the space it claim to be cooling.
2) it's a swamp cooler and you don't live in an arid climate.

It might work for 10-20 minutes, before the electricity overall creates more heat. Even fans don't really work unless you put them next to an open window to dissipate heat from the motor.

It's only designed to cool 50 square feet and it only really works having it blowing directly on you. The extra humidity and the filters going to shit after a few weeks is absolutely not worth it.
